The Island Essentials

Welcome to the official index of commerce and character at Banana Bay. This is a curated roll-call of the establishments that define the rhythm of the Strand; from the scent of hand-pressed linen at Clara’s boutique to the salt-crusted wisdom found at Billy’s Bait Shop.

Whether you are seeking a record-shop refuge with Ned "Needle" Nelson or a strategic smoothie at The Squeeze; every door listed here is an essential part of the Bay’s pulse. If a business is not found within these polaroids; it is likely still being processed at the Pier or currently undergoing a rigorous decibel-compliance check by the Mayor’s office.

Navigate leisurely; every transaction in the Bay comes with a side of gossip and a view of the reef.

THE PELICAN’S PERCH

Proprietor: Sullivan "Sully" Drake

Location: The Waterfront Boardwalk

The Lowdown: The undisputed headquarters for the Sunset Yacht Club. Sully doesn't care if you have a boat; he only cares if you’re horizontal by four o'clock.

MR BEAN’S COFFEE CART

Proprietor: Buster Bean

Location: Roaming (Usually near the Marina)

The Lowdown: The fastest espresso on three wheels. Buster is perpetually in a hurry to serve people who are in no hurry at all, creating a unique social friction that makes his coffee taste even bolder.

THE PERKY PARROT

Proprietor: Mrs. Crumble

Location: The Boardwalk

The Lowdown: The island’s unofficial town hall. Mrs. Crumble serves the strongest coffee in the Bay and the sharpest observations on local politics. If she hasn't heard the rumour, it hasn't happened yet.

SUGAR SANDS BOUTIQUE

Proprietor: Clara Halloway

Location: The Waterfront Boardwalk

The Lowdown: The primary destination for those looking to upgrade their island wardrobe from "just arrived" to "local legend." Clara stocks the finest linen shirts and hand-woven sun hats in the Bay. If you’re looking for a Radio Banana Bay tee or a vintage-style Hawaiian shirt, this is the only shop on The Boardwalk that matters.

THE BEACHCOMBER’S BOUNTY

Proprietor: Beatrice Maple

Location: The Strand

The Lowdown: A chaotic yet charming collection of what Beatrice calls "shoreline essentials" and what others might call "tourist tat." From postcards of yesteryear to jars of genuine Banana Bay sea glass, if the tide brought it in, Beatrice has likely priced it and put it on a shelf.

THE SQUEEZE

Proprietor: Macy Marlowe

Location: The Boardwalk

The Lowdown: The Bay’s primary source of liquid energy. Macy specializes in "Vitamin Sea" blends that are guaranteed to cure everything from a late night at The Tipsy Tiki to a mild case of sun-dazzle.

TROPICAL GROOVES VINYL

Proprietor: Ned "Needle" Nelson

Location: The Strand (Next to the Post Office)

The Lowdown: The island’s rhythmic archive. Ned is the man you see when you want a specific pressing of a classic Rocksteady 45 or a deep-cut reggae B-side. The shop is small, cooled by a single rhythmic ceiling fan, and smells of old cardboard and sea salt. It’s the perfect analogue companion to Radio Banana Bay.

THE TIPSY TIKI

Proprietor: "Midnight" Monty

Location: Behind the Ice House

The Lowdown: The destination for those who aren’t quite ready for the sun to come up. Tucked away in the shadows of the marina’s backstreets, Monty runs the island's most discreet late-night establishment. It’s a place where the drinks are strong, the music is low, and the "knowing wink" is the only currency you really need.

BILLY’S BAIT SHOP

Proprietor: Old Billy

Location: The Pier (The very end)

The Lowdown: Nominally a place to buy lures and tackle; actually a place to hear stories about fish that definitely got away. Billy’s knowledge of the tides is only surpassed by his knowledge of where the best shade is at noon.

THE INKED ANCHOR

Proprietor: Tattoo Tom

Location: The Strand

The Lowdown: Tom specialises in what he calls "nautical vintage"—tattoos that look like they’ve spent forty years at sea. Whether you want a simple anchor or a full-scale map of the Bay, Tom’s steady hand and collection of island stories make every session a permanent piece of history.

THE DEEP DIVE GRILL

Proprietor: Chef 'Sharky' Sheldon

Location: Waterfront Boardwalk

The Lowdown: If it swam in the Bay this morning, it’s on Sharky’s grill this afternoon. Known for his "Quiet Snapper" and a total refusal to provide ketchup, Sharky lets the charcoal and the sea salt do the talking.
